The Krasno Global Events Series is a series of regular lectures, conversations, talks and discussions at UNC-Chapel Hill to enhance our understanding and comprehension of global affairs, past and present. They mostly take place by Zoom but sometimes also in-person. The Krasno Global Events Series is directed, organized and moderated by Prof. Klaus Larres at UNC-Chapel Hill. I'm fortunate to be supported by a large number of student Krasno assistants.
In particular in tumultuous and transitional times which have led to much unpredictability and instability, it is essential to obtain a better grasp of the driving forces, the fears and ideas as well as the personalities that shape our age.
The Krasno Global Events Series seeks to contribute to achieving this and provide students and the general public in the US and all over the world with deeper insights into 20th and 21st century global affairs.
The Krasno Events Series consists of 3 main strands:
1. "America in World Affairs: the Cold War and Beyond" lecture series with eminent scholars and practitioners
2. "Ambassadors Forum & Distinguished Statespersons Forum" lectures and discussions with distinguished diplomats, military and politicians
3. "U.S.-Europe-China Forum" talks and discussions regarding the rise of China and its implications with experts in the field
